from QN QNSETTIMANALI-WEEKEND- FRANCHI UMBERTO: WHEN THE PROJECT EMERGES FROM THE MATERIAL

At Forte dei Marmi and Carrara, a three-day event explored the dialogue between marble, architecture and art, offering an insight into the company’s vision and strengthening the relationship between business and culture
For Franchi Umberto Marmi, it is the material itself that inspires a project and shapes its language, function and identity. Marble—with its unique veining, geological memory and timeless character—becomes the starting point for a reflection that brings together architecture, art and design research.
This vision provided the guiding thread for a three-day event held across Forte dei Marmi and Carrara. Conceived as a single, cohesive narrative, the programme showcased marble not merely as a hallmark of manufacturing excellence, but as a true protagonist of contemporary design. The journey brought together corporate culture, education, experimentation and creativity, demonstrating how the value of a material also lies in its ability to generate ideas.
More than a succession of events, the initiative revealed a distinctive approach to design—one in which the material does not follow the vision, but precedes it, inspires it and ultimately transforms it.
This is the perspective embraced by Franchi Umberto Marmi, connecting Carrara’s rich cultural heritage with the energy of contemporary design and contributing to an international dialogue in which marble continues to redefine its role—not only as a symbol of manufacturing excellence, but as a genuine driver of design innovation.

“The heart of our work has always been the marble of the Apuan basin. Each block carries a story written in stone — veins that no hand could design, drawn by nature over millions of years. No two slabs are alike: it is this uniqueness, this rare purity, that continues to inspire architects and designers worldwide. From iconic buildings to contemporary interiors, these marbles offer creative minds a material like no other — a natural signature that turns every project into something unrepeatable. Supporting this dialogue between stone and design is at the core of our vision.”
